B and B Basket

November 22nd, 2010

Thanksgiving is just a few days away and what better way to make your company feel at home than with a basket full of goodies that say, “Welcome!” Providing your guests with a few necessities and special treats is a simple way to be thoughtful during the rush of the holidays. Not to mention, it’s a great way to make a hostess with the mostess impression.

To make a “bed & breakfast” basket, first you need a basket – or, a colorful galvanized pail and maybe a touch of pretty ribbon tied into a big bow. Then, you can fill it to the brim and make it as luxe, personal or inexpensive as you like. These are a few of the basics.

It is the thought that counts but, to be sure that what you are giving is just as good to the person receiving, here are some things to keep in mind when preparing your basket:

  • Be mindful of allergies (i.e., food, skin, scent) and preferences (i.e., organic, sugar-free) when picking out products.
  • Don’t pawn off products that you don’t want anymore – a B&B basket is not a waste basket and your home is not the back room of a Last Call.
  • If you don’t want a fire, don’t add a candle.
  • For the lady birds in your nest: Samples of perfume are the perfect size, ponytail holders and bobby pins, eye makeup remover

Saw this a few years ago and had to look it up again. Will be hosting my entire family for Christmas, and I remembered loving this idea. Thanks!
